Inside the Box

I am VERY happy with the response to the first set of panels. There were plenty of GREAT comments. I hope you're happy with the next panel set. I used a combination of the comments to build the story. If your comment wasn't used, there is still a chance for it. You may see your idea pop up in a future strip.

The box will contain his very grouchy gra'ma. The packers found her so annoying they put the this side up sign the wrong way. She also will be quite irritated that the box says fragile.

An ancient Mayan artifact. It's from his uncle Golp Gakk, whom Gork hasn't seen since he was a wee tot.

I think there should be a small civilization in the box. Somehow, they were transported to Gork Gakk. :)

When he opens the box it "looks" empty, but when he looks closer he is pulled into an alternate reality

  1. Uncle Golp is stuck at the bottom of a pool full of Jell-o. The little people can't get to him because it is too deep. Only Gork can reach him!

  2. Well I think he goes 'GREAT WHEAT BISCUITS' or something and crawls back through the box finding that the other side doesnt take him home but to a giant monster so he rushes back and says 'Ok, Deal! How am i suposed to help?!'

  3. Uncle Golp is attached to a whirly gig and is unable to escape. Gork must think of a way to stop the machine by developing a crazy Goldberg mechanism that involves an elephant, a boysenberry pie, and a crochety old beaver.

  4. Uncle Golp is attached to a large spinning device and gulp must come up with a way to get the niffens into the machine (to short circuit the whole thing) by using a Goldberg-like contraption that involves an elephant, a boysenberry pie, and some old milk.

    Maybe it's all an evil plot by Bill Cosby with the Jello-O.

    ME IS MY NAME: That sure sounds like Gorktalk to me. Tryin to escape is a nice touch.

    PAPAFROST: Either you commented twice or someone has the same idea as you. Both VERY inventive!

    REXQUEEMS: I love the mystery!

    Keep em' comin! Also give me some ideas on how Uncle Golp is a savior to the Niffens. That backstory can connect to Golp's current threat!

  7. The Niffins tried to save Uncle themselves by sending The fellowship of the donut ring out to get help from Saucer-mon, but that was many months ago, so now they need Golp to find out what is going on as its too dangerous for the niffins (sending a cow to the slaughter)(<- im refering to Golp)

  8. I'm pro Rube Goldberg machines involving beavers... but not "crochety old" ones. And the sacred uncle- he's been captured by the Finnefs, another race of little people. The Finnefs are the rivals of the Niffens, of course.

  9. The Niffen's are pieces of people's imaginations. So...these Niffen's are somehow part of Uncle Golp's imagination. Or I am thinking something with computers...they are a highly evolved computer program.

  10. Golp's stray puppy found its way to the Niffens world and went on a sniffing and tinkling rampage. Golp followed him, and hitting him on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper, shooed his puppy away from his destructive mayhem.

    The Niffens praised Golp as their savior and begged him to stay and lead them. Since the IRS was after him, he decided to forego his home life and live among the Niffens as a revered figure.
